RISA News and Notes


TRIPLE-THREAT FOR RAWILLER
Brad Rawiller (left) posted back-to-back trebles in an incredible weekend on the track, riding YOU THINK SO (NZ), COMMANDING TIME and LORD OF BRAZIL (NZ) to wins on Saturday at Moonee Valley before posting a personal trifecta with KING DIAMOND, SINGLE WARRIOR and DANISH WHISKEY at Ballarat on Sunday. In winning with King Diamond, it was Rawiller’s third-straight win of the Ballarat Cup. Rawiller also posted a treble at Geelong last Saturday, 18 November and doubles on 20 November (at Echuca) and 15 November (at Seymour).

RED HOT BARAKEY
BARAKEY continued his impressive CV with a win of the Winterbottom Stakes 1200m on Saturday at Ascot. The 5yo gelding has now won all 11 races in his career, accumulating $686,900 in prize money.

MILLION-DOLLAR MOET
MR MOET meanwhile, moved across $1 million in career earnings following a win of the 1600m Railway Stakes, beating out the favourite LUCKYGRAY. It was the 11th win for the 5yo gelding.

A Look Back at the Weekend of Horse Racing Around Australia



SANDOWN UNDER
Nick Hall won for the second time over the last three years at the Zipping Classic, riding TANBY
to the win over EXCEPTIONALLY (NZ) and PRECEDENCE (NZ) ... Kerrin McEvoy won for the third time in six years at the Sandown Guineas, winning on TATRA. McEvoy has made a winner out of trainer Peter Snowden in each of those tries (2012, 2009, 2008). It was one of two wins for McEvoy out at Sandown, as he also picked up a huge win with MEIDUNG in the 1400m Twilight Glow Stakes ... Craig Williams has now rode the last two Sandown Stakes winners, winning with MAHISARA in 2012.

JOCKEY GOOD TIME
This past weekend around Australia, four jockeys pulled off a treble on separate tracks. It was a big day for jockey Greg Ryan (left), who won four of the six races at Wellington. Over in NSW and at Adaminaby, Carl Spry posted a treble and  Ms. Kayla Cross also won twice, giving those two jockeys five of the six races ... Tony Patillo also had a treble at Gold Coast, after winning twice last weekend... Brad Rawiller, returned to form, to win the final three races at Geelong.
